Looking at getting a secondary firewall for the department so it is not a single point of failure. The campus outage several weeks ago was a hardware failure on the firewall, and there was no backup. Have been waiting on OIT to get a second link to the department, which we will eventually aggregate and have 2 Gbps connectivity. Want to get new firewall in place on the 22nd.

New firewalls can run an IPS on them.

Reviewed proposals. Narrowed down to two companies. Will contact them for more details.

Moving forward to convert open labs to 25% laptop stations and 75% new machines.
