October 12th

  • Come up with what a city is

October 19th

  • How to make/generate a city
  • How to make a visual representation

October 26th

  • ORCA PAPER
  • Look for data for the knowledge base

November 2nd

  • Start thinking about the design of the machine
  • Start thinking about what we will need for the machine

November 9th

  • Try to code a scrapper google api and data.gov
  • Research info about fire/hospital/police coverage
  • Keep looking for databases
  • Start a GitHub repo

Notes:

  • The google API doesn't allow scrapping so we wouldn't be able to use this database. Also, data.gov might be too complicated at this point to use. We found simpler databases that should suffice for now. These databases are in the brain dump.
  • Found basic information about utilities per capita, as of right now it's enough to move forward. In the brain dump.

November 16th

  • Design a more formal structure of the system
  • Start stubbing repo
  • Finalize facts about evaluation function

Notes:

  • We are going to hold of on the evaluation function for now
  • We came up with the design of the knowledge database
  • We talked about starting scrapping the databases we already have

November 23rd

  • Create database
  • Start stubbing system
  • Start working on the scraper/parser
  • Start thinking about input/output

Notes: No meeting.

November 30th

No meeting last week so to do's carried over to this week.

  • Create database
  • Start stubbing system
  • Start working on the scraper/parser
  • Start thinking about input/output

Notes:

December 7th

Notes:

  • We have stepped back and simplified the problem for now. Instead of expanding cities, we will create cities from scratch
  • We will represent a city with a 2×2 array/grid.

December 14th

  • Have the database done
  • Populate the database
  • Be able to represent a city
